Government Deposit Guaranteedisclaimer

Some extra peace of mind for banking in Australia. Deposits of up to $250,000 with ANZ can be covered by the Australian Government’s Financial Claims Scheme.  This means that this money is guaranteed if anything happens to ANZ.

Eligibility

What do I need to apply?

 

To apply you will need to:

  • Be an Australian resident, with an Australian address 
  • Come into branch with accepted ID or be an existing ANZ customer
  • Receive an eligible Centrelink pension or allowance or a Veterans’ Affairs pension or allowance 
  • Have your pension or allowance paid into your ANZ Pensioner Advantage account.

You may also need your:

  • Pension type
  • Pension number
  • Centrelink or Veterans' Affairs number.

It is not compulsory to provide your Tax File Number (TFN). However, if you do not provide it, ANZ is required to deduct withholding tax from any interest earned on your ANZ Pensioner Advantage account above a certain threshold.

Eligible pensions and allowances include:

  • Aged pension
  • Disability Support pension
  • Widow’s pension or allowance
  • Wife’s pension
  • Carer’s pension
  • Sole parent’s pension
  • Service pension
  • Incentive allowance
  • Newstart Allowance (including Mature Age Allowance and Mature Age Partner Allowance)
  • Sickness allowance
  • Special Benefit allowance
  • Partner allowance
  • Parenting allowance.

For example, the interest we pay on the part of your balance between $2,000 and $44,600 may be different from the rate of interest we pay on first $1,999 of the balance. Interest rates are variable and subject to change.

A combined daily transaction limit of $1,000 applies to Pay Anyone and Pay to Mobile transactions. Recipients require an account with an Australian financial institution to receive or collect payments.
