Be on the lookout for suspicious activity

While ANZ works around the clock to help protect your accounts from fraud, it's important to be aware of the risks – regardless of your age, background or income.

Learn how to identify fraud and how to protect yourself from common scams, and always contact us if you notice any unusual activity on your cards or accounts. We’re here to help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Ways to report

Reporting hoax communications

If you’ve received a suspicious phone call, email or SMS message claiming to be from ANZ, please contact us immediately.

You can also forward the email or SMS to us immediately.

How to forward SMS messages:

  1. Do not click on any links or download any attachments
  2. Select the message carefully, ensuring no links are clicked
  3. Select and forward the actual SMS message (not a screenshot) to hoax@cybersecurity.anz.com.
    Please see the instructions below for forwarding an SMS message from an Android and Apple phone:
    1. Android: ‘Share’ the SMS message as an email to hoax@cybersecurity.anz.com
    2. Apple: First, touch and hold the SMS message (ensuring no links are clicked). Next, tap ‘More...’ and then select the ‘Forward’ icon (located on the right-hand side of screen). Enter the recipient as hoax@cybersecurity.anz.com and send
  4. Delete it from your inbox

How to forward emails:

  1. Do not click on any links or download any attachments
  2. Forward the email 'as an attachment' to hoax@cybersecurity.anz.com
  3. Delete it from your inbox

Unusual activity on your account

If you have noticed unusual activity on your account, please call us immediately on the following numbers:

13 22 73 - ANZ Personal Cards (or +61 3 9683 9999 from overseas)
13 33 50 - ANZ Personal, Small Business and Business Banking (or +61 3 9683 8833 from overseas)
13 70 28 - ANZ Corporate and Institutional Banking (or +61 3 8693 7153 from overseas)

Reporting scams

Report all scams to:

Call ANZ immediately if:

  • You think you've been scammed
  • You've shared your banking details in response to a hoax phone call, email or SMS message
  • You've accidentally clicked on any links or downloaded any attachments
  • You've noticed any unusual transactions on your accounts

Remember that ANZ will never ask you for sensitive banking details (like passwords, PINs, one-time passcodes, ANZ Shield codes, token codes). ANZ will never ask you to click on a link to log in to your account/s or to provide remote access to your computer or phone. In addition, ANZ will never ask you to transfer money to another account.
