What is the Saver Plus program?

Saver Plus is a financial education and matched savings program developed by ANZ and the Brotherhood of St Laurence in 2003. This 10-month program uses the combined power of goal setting, incentives and personal support to assist eligible participants. 87% of participants keep saving the same amount or more, 3 to 7 years after completing Saver Plusdisclaimer

Eligible participants who complete the program have their savings matched (up to $500) by ANZ for education-related expenses for themselves or their children.


Are you eligible to participate?

Saver Plus is available through a range of community agencies in 60 locations across Australia (PDF 589kB ). You may be eligible to participate if you:

  • Are 18 years or over
  • Have a child at school or attend vocational or tertiary education yourself
  • Have regular income from paid employment (you or your partner)
  • Have a current Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card
  • Are in receipt of an eligible Commonwealth social security benefit, allowance or payment. Many Centrelink payments are eligible, please contact your local Coordinator for more information.

Learn techniques for managing your money better, budgeting and reducing debts.

Savings matched up to $500

Complete the program and ANZ will match your savings, dollar-for-dollar up to $500, toward educational expenses for you or your children.

No fees

Your Saver Plus journey

Talk to a Saver Plus coordinator

Determine your eligibility. If eligible, set a goal to save a regular amount of money over 10 months.

Open your account and save

Open an ANZ Progress Saver account that has $0 monthly service fee and make regular deposits over ten months towards your savings goal.disclaimer

Develop your financial skills

Learn and share tips and strategies for budgeting and planning for the future by completing the free MoneyMinded financial education workshops with like-minded individuals.

Receive matched savings

At the end of the program and when you've reached your savings goal, your savings will be matched dollar for dollar (up to $500) to help pay for education-related expenses for you or your child.

The program is funded by ANZ and the Australian Government Department of Social Services, with ANZ providing matched savings for participants.

Bonus interest is subject to eligibility. ANZ Progress Saver pays bonus interest (in addition to the current variable base interest) in respect of a particular month if the set minimum deposit (currently $10) and no withdrawals, fees or charges are processed to the account on or before the last business day of that calendar month, and after the last business day of the previous calendar month. Bonus and base rates are variable and subject to change.
