Banking Code of Practice
ANZ is a signatory to the Australian Banking Association's Banking Code of Practice.
About the Code
The Code sets a new standard of customer service for Australia’s banks.
The Code provides safeguards and protections that aren't set out in the law. It complements the law and, in some areas, sets higher standards than the law.
By adopting the Code, ANZ is making a strong commitment to ethical and transparent behaviour, responsible practices and greater protection for our customers.
The Code applies to customers who are ‘individuals’ and ‘small businesses’, and individuals who guarantee loans to them.
The Banking Code Compliance Committee (BCCC) monitors banks’ compliance with the Banking Code of Practice. Further information about the BCCC can be found on its website.
Further information about the Code is available at the Australian Banking Association’s website.
COVID, 1 July 2020 Special Note
The Australian Banking Association has made temporary changes to the Banking Code of Practice to reflect the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic may temporarily affect the provision of some banking services. Read the Special Note.
