Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting

Our ESG Supplement sets out our performance across a range of indicators covering the environmental, social and governance aspects of our business. It is prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards Principles for Defining Report Content and Quality and is independently assured.

2019 Assurance

KPMG has provided independent limited assurance in respect of our 2019 ESG Reporting including all material text and data claims in the ANZ 2019 ESG Supplement, ANZ 2019 Climate-related Financial Disclosures and ESG information in the ANZ 2019 Annual Review and ANZ 2019 Annual Report. KPMG has also considered whether the appropriate indicators have been reported in accordance with the GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards Comprehensive level of disclosures.

KPMG has confirmed to ANZ its independence in conducting assurance over ANZ's ESG Reporting within the KPMG assurance statement.

Interim reports

Each year we set public sustainability targets and a corresponding group-wide program of work to support the delivery of our business strategy. Our interim reports provide an update on our half year progress against targets.

Environmental performance reports

Since 2016, our environmental performance report has been incorporated into our Sustainability Reviews. Our 2019 environmental performance is outlined on pages 41-42 and 70-71 of our 2019 ESG Supplement

In 2019 KPMG was engaged to conduct independent assurance over ANZ’s global GHG emissions and carbon offset data. Assurance was provided in accordance with International Standard on Assurance Engagements ISAE 3000 Assurance Engagements other than Audits or Reviews of Historical Financial Information, ISAE 3410 Assurance Engagements on Greenhouse Gas Statements and National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (Audit) Determination 2009.
