Before you get started

You'll need two devices

To register for ANZ Shield, you'll need two devices to synchronise your ANZ Shield app to ANZ Internet Banking or ANZ Internet Banking for Business.

For example, you might set up ANZ Shield on your mobile phone, and use a laptop to access ANZ Internet Banking or ANZ Internet Banking for Business.

Getting started

Check your device is compatible

You can set up ANZ Shield on:

  • an iPhonedisclaimer running iOS 5.0 or above
  • an Androiddisclaimer phone running 2.2 (Froyo) or above.

Check your developer settings

If you have an Android phone, you'll need to disable the developer settings for ANZ Shield to work. Your developer settings are usually located within your 'Settings' menu, but this can vary on different devices. To locate them, refer to your phone’s user guide.

You don't need to disable any developer settings on iOS devices like your iPhone or iPad.

Enable push notifications

You need to enable push notifications to complete the ANZ Shield registration process.

Refer to your device's user guide for details.

How to register for ANZ Shield

Log in to ANZ Internet Banking or ANZ Internet Banking for Business

Log in

 

Navigate to ANZ Shield via the 'Profile' page.

If you're an ANZ Internet Banking for Business customer, select 'Profile' and then 'Manage ANZ Shield/ANZ Security Device'

 

Follow the on-screen steps to complete your registration

 

Generating a Shield Code

Once you've registered for ANZ Shield, you'll be prompted to generate a Shield Code when making internet banking transactions or any changes to your account.

To generate a Shield Code, open the ANZ Shield app from your registered phone and enter your four-digit ANZ Shield PIN.

If you forget your ANZ Shield PIN, accidentally delete the ANZ Shield app or lose your device, please contact us anytime on 13 33 50.

ANZ Internet Banking customers

Follow these steps to remove ANZ Shield from your devices:

  1. Log in to ANZ Internet Banking through your registered phone or tablet.
  2. Select 'ANZ Shield' from the 'Profile' menu.
  3. Choose 'Deregister' from the 'ANZ Shield Hub'.

If you don't have your registered phone or tablet with you, call us anytime on 13 33 50 (International callers: +61 3 9683 8833).

ANZ Internet Banking for Business customers

To remove ANZ Shield, please contact the ANZ Internet Banking for Business Help Desk to discuss other security options. We're available on 1800 269 242 from 8am - 8pm (AEST), Monday to Friday (International callers: +61 3 8699 6906).

  Why should I register for ANZ Shield?

ANZ Shield gives you immediate access to additional security features for ANZ Internet Banking and ANZ Internet Banking for Business, and registering is quick and convenient. To learn more about how ANZ's keeping your banking safe, visit our Security Centre.

   When will I be asked to provide an ANZ Shield Code?

You'll be asked to provide a Shield Code when you're using internet banking to authenticate certain payments and activities that ANZ considers high risk. For ANZ Internet Banking for Business, you’ll be asked to provide a Shield Code to authenticate all third-party payments.

   What if I get a developer settings error when opening the ANZ Shield app?

You'll need to disable the developer settings on your device in order to use ANZ Shield. Finding your developer settings can vary depending on your device, but they're usually within the 'Settings' menu. You may need to refer to your device’s user guide.
