Only install apps from official app stores

Only download apps from official app stores like Apple and Google Play, not from links in emails, social media posts or texts.

Many apps want to access personal data like your contacts or location, or collect information from third party sites you visit. Manage each app’s permissions by going to ‘Settings > Privacy’ (for Apple iOS devices) or ‘Application Manager’ (for Android).

Update your apps and operating system

Enable automatic updates of your apps and operating system to ensure you have the latest security software and patch updates.

Avoid jailbreaking your phone

Removing manufacturer restrictions leaves your phone vulnerable to threats.

Be cautious of public Wi-Fi

Exercise caution when using public Wi-Fi for online banking or sending emails. Restrict your device from automatically connecting to unknown networks as they might be monitored to collect your information.
