We seek to contribute constructively to public policy formation and understand the perspectives of our community's elected representatives, policy makers and regulators.
We contribute to policy formation on business, economic, social and environmental issues affecting our customers and shareholders:
- our senior management team meets regularly with political, policy making and regulatory leaders
- we discuss policy issues in detail with governments and agencies, other businesses and interested stakeholders
- we make submissions on and engage in policy processes.
We work in a collaborative and open way as members of associations that have similar interests and approaches to ours.
We are also a member of a number of industry associations that contribute to public policy debate and formation. Our memberships include Australian Bankers' Association, New Zealand Bankers’ Association, the Business Council of Australia, Business New Zealand, the United Nations Environment Program Finance Initiative and various banking and financial services associations throughout the region.
We are an active participant in the political and public policy making process. Our approach is set out in the Public Policy Advocacy, Political Donations and Foreign Influence Policy and we publicly report all political donations in our Annual Reports.
