  • Disocver the most common (and unique) things Aussie ANZ customers save for
  • Learn how to set a solid, smart target to save more money

December brings the beginning of the festive season. While many set out to bedazzle their Christmas tree, we're putting down the baubles and unwrapping the top savings goals of 2022.

With over 180k savings goals set in the ANZ App in 2022, here are some of the most common… and unique things Aussie ANZ Customers set to save for this year.

Starting with the most popular… if we asked you to guess the most common savings goals, what would come to mind? Holiday? Car? House? Yes, yes and yes! Here are the top 5 savings categories ANZ customers picked in 2022:

  1. Holiday
  2. House
  3. Other
  4. Car
  5. Rainy Day

With travelling now back on the cards for many Aussies, it appears quite a lot of us are ready to explore both home and abroad. If you're looking for some holiday inspiration, you've found the right place! New Zealand and Bali are common favourites. Many people are also saving for their dream European Summer in 2023. Prefer to stay down under? Say no more. Other common savings goal destinations include Noosa, Queensland & Sydney.

Of the top five saving categories, “Other” leaves a lot to the imagination. This category gives you the freedom to be adventurous with your goal definitions and submit a description that isn’t predefined. Beauty and tech were common themes, covering anything from Eyelash Extensions to the latest gadgets.

Furry friends had a place too. Many savvy savers use this category to set savings goals for their pets with details varying from vet bills to birthdays. Pooch-friendly birthday cake? Yes, please!  "Other" also proves to be a popular place for people to manifest, with subcategories reading "I am successful", "Opportunities" and "Dream car/house/life".

Everyone's dreams are different. And no matter what they are, Financial Wellbeings set savings goals to bring them to life. On average, people who set a savings goal in the ANZ App saved two times faster than those withoutdisclaimer. If you see it, you can save for it. Set a goal in the ANZ App so you can easily see how you’re tracking and keep your goal front and centre.
