General questions

No you don't. If you're a registered user of the ANZ App, Internet Banking or Internet Banking for Business, you'll receive online statements in addition to paper for all linked eligible accounts.  You can also choose to change your statement preferences and go paperless

Eligible accounts for online statements include:

  • Personal everyday banking and savings accounts
  • Consumer Credit Cards
  • Home Loan and Personal loan accounts
  • ANZ Business One (Business Visa Cards)
  • Business everyday transaction and savings accounts
  • Business loan accounts.

Determine if your account is eligible for online statements by viewing the full list here:

You can view online statements for an account in Internet Banking if you are:

  • The primary cardholder (if it's a consumer credit card other than ANZ Business One)
  • The Principal, Directory or signatory (for ANZ Business One credit cards)
  • The primary owner of the account
  • The sole owner or a nominated joint owner
  • A signatory or an Authorised Enquirer or Director for an ANZ Business One credit card
  • A direct or an indirect trustee
  • A third party signatory/power of attorney of a business account (except ANZ Business Loan account) or a personal everyday banking or savings account.

If your authority on an account falls under certain categories you will not be eligible to view online statements. For example:

  • If you are the secondary cardholder for a consumer credit card
  • If you are the secondary cardholders for commercial credit cards (and you’re not a signatory or an Authorised Enquirer or a Director)
  • Accounts to which you are a Beneficiary
  • Accounts to which you are a Guarantor.

Note: This is not an exhaustive list of account authorities or account categories for which online statements are not available.

No. Online statements are only available to accounts linked to your ANZ Internet Banking or ANZ Internet Banking for Business.

Online transactions display the most current transactions. This transaction record is not an account statement.

Online statements, on the other hand, are scanned copies of paper statements generated periodically (monthly/bi-monthly/quarterly/half yearly) dependent on the statement end date and other legal requirements.

There is currently no fee associated with replacement statements.

For accounts that are eligible for replacement statements (except credit cards), you can choose to have the replacement statement(s) emailed to a valid email address.

Card statements

Processed refers to the date the transaction was processed in to your account by ANZ.

Transaction Date refers to date the transaction was carried out by the merchant.

Transactions will only appear after the merchant processes them and forwards the details to ANZ for processing.

When viewing your statements,  the last four digits of the ANZ credit card number used will appear under Card used. This will help you identify which card was used for a particular transaction.

If you switch off paper statements, this means that a person who previously received paper statements for an account:

  • will not receive paper statements for that account if they have authorised access to that account in the ANZ App and/or ANZ Internet Banking; or
  • will continue to receive paper statements for that account if they do not have authorised access to that account in the ANZ App and/orANZ Internet Banking.

We suggest that before you remove any accounts from the ANZ App or ANZ Internet Banking, ensure you have reset your statement preferences to Paper and online. This way you’ll continue receiving statements by mail.

You will lose access to historical online statements if all accounts linked to the ANZ App or ANZ Internet Banking are closed. Before closing your accounts, we suggest you:

  • Save electronic copies to your computer or print statements
  • Update your account preference settings to Paper and online, which will ensure you receive any final statements in the mail

Note: There must be at least one active account linked to the ANZ App or ANZ Internet Banking to view online statements for eligible accounts.

Here are some situations when your statement preferences for an eligible account may be reset back to Paper and online from Online only:

  • Where a credit card linked to your ANZ App or ANZ Internet Banking is registered as lost or stolen
  • Where there is a change to the number of signatories on an eligible account
  • When an overdraft has been added or removed from an existing deposit account
  • For eligible accounts with multiple account holders, the statement delivery preference will change when one party has changed the statement delivery preference.

You may also receive a paper statement if there is a problem with your email address. Please double-check that it is correct. You should also ensure your inbox is not full and that it's not rejecting emails from

You should report your lost or stolen credit card immediately by:

Your historical account statements for transactions made using the lost/stolen card will still be available to view online via ANZ Internet Banking.

When your new credit card is issued, ensure you link the new card to ANZ Internet Banking.

Because your original card was lost or stolen, your statement preference for this account may default back to Paper and online.

Remember to update your statement preferences if you prefer to receive statements Online only.

If your account is eligible for online statements and you see the error "This account is not eligible to receive online statements" it’s likely due to one of the following reasons:

  • You’re not the primary cardholder of the credit card
  • You’re not a signatory on the account
  • A system error occurred and we were unable to determine eligibility at the time (try again sometime later).

If you can see a list of your online statements but you're having problems opening them:

  • Ensure you have the latest version of Adobe Reader installed
  • You'll also need to have your pop-up blockers disabled and JavaScript enabled to correctly open your PDF online statements in a new window or tab.
  • If you want to download the statement to your desktop, you'll need to select Download from the View statements function and then again when viewing the statement.

If the error indicates the file is corrupt, please try upgrading your version of Adobe Reader.

When you choose to receive statements “Online only”, you are nominating not to receive paper statements for that account. Please note, for users of ANZ Internet Banking for Business the option to switch off paper statements is not available.
