Transfer credit card balance

Do you have outstanding balances on non-ANZ credit, charge or store card accounts?

  • You can easily transfer these balances over to your ANZ Credit Card.
  • It's a handy way to pay an outstanding balance from your ANZ Credit Card account.

How do I transfer my credit card balance?

To transfer a credit card balance to your ANZ Credit Card:

Go to the Home page, which is the first page you see when you log on to ANZ Internet Banking.

Select your credit card account.

Then select the "Credit card balance transfer" link from the Account actions and follow the steps below.

Before transferring your credit card balance

You can transfer the balance of your credit card with another bank or institution to your ANZ Credit Card provided that the other bank or institution allows its customers to use BPAY®.

Please ensure the details you provide are correct, as we do not verify your details.

Step 1 - Read and accept the terms and conditions

Click "I Accept" to acknowledge that you have read and accept the terms and conditions.

Step 2 - Fill in the from account details

From: select the bank or institution you wish to transfer your balance from, using the drop down list.

The biller code will automatically populate.

Reference number: this is your account number or biller reference. It will usually be found near the BPAY® logo on your statement.

Account name: enter the account name as it appears on your other bank or institution credit card.

My institution is not listed

If your bank or institution is not listed in the drop down list:

Click on the "Balance Transfer Application form" link (located at the bottom of the page).

Download, fill in and return the form to the postal address outlined in the form.

You will need to have Adobe Reader installed on your computer to view the PDF correctly.

Step 3 - Fill in the transfer details

To: select the credit card you would like to transfer the balance to, using the drop down list.

All of your linked ANZ Credit Card accounts will be listed here.

Amount: enter the amount you wish to transfer, using a decimal point, if applicable.

Click "Continue".

Step 4 - Review your information

Review all your information to ensure it is correct. If information is incorrect it may result in an unsuccessful transfer or payment to an unintended account.

If you notice mistakes click "Back" and re-enter the correct details following steps 1-3.

Step 5 - Confirm your transfer

When you are happy with the information entered click "Confirm".

A message will display advising that your card transfer will be treated as a cash advance.

Click "Ok" to continue with the transfer.

Step 6 - View your lodgement receipt

Your lodgement receipt is displayed to confirm that your transaction has been submitted successfully.

This does not mean the transaction will be processed successfully as that is dependent on the details you have entered being accurate.

Please make a note of the receipt number and lodgement number for your own records.

Important notes

Balance transfers to your credit card are processed as a cash advance and interest will accrue accordingly.

You must ensure the reference is correct or your payment may be unsuccessful or may be paid to an unintended account.

Credit card balance transfers are processed overnight by us on bank business days. When the other bank or institution's account will be credited will depend on the policy and systems of the other bank or institution's bank.

Immediate bill payments submitted before 6.00pm (AEST) on a bank business day are processed on that day, but if submitted after 6.00pm (AEST), on weekends or public holidays are processed on the next bank business day.

You cannot delete or cancel an immediate transfer or a transfer to be processed today.

A balance transfer is the transfer of an outstanding balance on a non-ANZ credit or store card account to your ANZ Credit Card account.

You can choose to transfer a full or partial amount of your credit or store card balance to your ANZ Credit Card account.

By transferring the debit balance of your other credit or store cards to an ANZ Credit Card and closing your other accounts, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of managing different card repayments.

Transferring your balance to a card with a lower interest rate can help you save on interest which means you can pay off your balance faster.

Balance transfers will accrue interest at the applicable interest rate from the date the balance transfer request is approved until the transferred amount is paid in full.

  • Balance transfers to an ANZ Balance Visa account will be subject to a 1% fee on the amount transferred.
  • This fee will not apply to balance transfers requested at the time of credit card application.
  • Balance transfers to an ANZ Credit Card account other than an ANZ Balance Visa will not be charged a balance transfer fee.
  • Terms and conditions apply to balance transfers. Call 1800 007 511 for details on balance transfer.

The "Credit card balance transfer" facility allows you to transfer the balance of your non-ANZ credit caed to your linked ANZ Credit Card provided the other bank or institution allows its customers to use BPAY®.

The first step is to complete the details of your payment and then select "Continue".

If your transfer request is processed you will receive a lodgement receipt.

Balance transfers requested before 10.00pm (AEST) on a bank business day will be processed to your account on the same day.

Requests made after this time may be processed on the next bank business day.

Payments to your nominated account are usually completed within three bank business days from the date we receive your request.

This transfer to your credit card account will be processed as a cash advance and interest will accrue accordingly.

You must ensure that the biller name and reference number are correct or your payment may be unsuccessful or may be paid to an unintended account.

If your credit card provider or store card is not listed on this page, you need to fill out the "Balance transfer application" form and return it by post to the address on the form.
