How to send an ANZ International Money Transfer

ANZ Internet Banking

Look for 'International Services' in the 'Payments' menu. Select 'Transfer funds overseas'. You can use your ANZ transaction account or ANZ credit card.disclaimerAdd our ANZ Shield security app for extra security and access to higher payment limits, available 24/7.disclaimer

ANZ Phone Banking

Use your ANZ transaction account by calling 1800 352 535 in Australia (Monday to Friday 8.00am to 7.30pm AEST).

International money transfer FAQs

You'll need to be an ANZ customer to send an ANZ International Money Transfer. You'll also need to tell us the following:

  • Currency and amount you'd like to send
  • Full name, address and account number of the person you're sending the money to
  • Destination country, full bank name, address and SWIFT code/BIC ( Bank Identifier Code) or Branch Number ( some countries accept this) of the beneficiary's (payee's) bank
  • IBAN (for payments to Europe and selected other countries) or Routing Number ( for payments to the US)

International money transfers can be sent to specified countries only. For ANZ Internet Banking and ANZ Internet Banking for Business, you can view the list of destination countries for international money transfers, when you set up a new payee.

For ANZ Phone Banking or if you wish to transfer funds to a country not shown in the list of destination countries in ANZ Internet Banking or ANZ Internet Banking for Business, please call the International Support Centre on 1800 681 683 or +61 03 8565 7229.

For ANZ Internet Banking, your daily payment limit will apply to all payments/transfers (excluding BPay bill payments). For ANZ Internet Banking for Business, the maximum daily amount that can be transferred overseas is $150,000 even if the daily limit amount assigned to your profile is higher than this.

For ANZ Phone Banking, there is no transaction limit on payments/transfers from your account. International money transfers cannot be made from a credit card via ANZ Phone Banking.

For ANZ  Internet Banking, whenever you confirm a payment/transfer you'll receive a lodgement number and a receipt number. The receipt number confirms that the payment/transfer has been submitted.

For scheduled payments/transfers, you can check the status and the receipt number via View past Payments/Transfers from the Payments menu. For unsuccessful payments/transfers, the status will show as failed. You can also check the details of the payment/transfer to find the reason the payment/transfer failed.

To receive an international money transfer, you'll need to provide the sender with:

  • Your ANZ branch name and address
  • Your account name and full account number
  • The ANZ SWIFT code, which is ANZBAU3M

If your company makes foreign currency payments of $250,000 p.a. (AUD equivalent) and over and you would like to manage your foreign exchange risk, please contact ANZ Markets on 1800 640 574 in Australia (Monday to Friday 8am to 6:30pm AEST).

Correspondent bank fees

ANZ processes International Money Transfers through its worldwide network of correspondent banks. Correspondent banks may charge additional fees and will generally deduct these fees from the total value of the payment. For certain currencies and countries, ANZ will cover the correspondent bank fee for International Money Transfers via ANZ Internet Banking and ANZ Phone Banking.
