Common questions

ANZ processes ANZ International Money Transfers through a worldwide network of correspondents. Correspondents may charge fees which are usually deducted from the transferred amount. For some currencies and destinations, ANZ will cover the correspondent fee for an ANZ International Money Transfer.

For more details on correspondent fees, please refer to the correspondent fees section on this page.

A correspondent fee is a fee that is charged by another bank or agency chosen by ANZ to route the funds and process the transfer.

When you request an ANZ International Money Transfer, we will provide you with an estimate of the correspondent fee as part of your quote.

You Send

If you choose to set up your ANZ International Money Transfer by entering the amount You Send (or You Pay in ANZ Internet Banking), it will be the amount that's deducted from your account, which includes:

  • the converted amount at the applicable foreign exchange rate; and
  • any fees and charges (such as the ANZ transfer fee and estimated correspondent fee).

Recipient Amount (estimated)

If you choose to enter the Recipient Amount (or Recipient Gets in ANZ Internet Banking), we will calculate how much you need pay (the amount that will be deducted from your account) based on:

  • the converted amount at the applicable FX; and
  • any fees and charges (such as the ANZ transfer fee and estimated correspondent fee).

Foreign exchange rates change constantly. When you request an ANZ International Money Transfer using the ANZ Plus app we lock in your quoted rate for 8 minutes and for 10 minutes if you're using ANZ Internet Banking. This gives you time to complete the transfer. When the clock runs out, the rate will expire and you'll need to request a new one.

Receiving money from overseas

Common questions

If you receive a payment from an overseas account equivalent to AUD300 or more, a fee of up to $15 may apply. Unless the sender elects to cover the fee, this amount will be deducted from the amount transferred to you.

ANZ Plus app

To receive an international money transfer in eligible ANZ Plus accounts, you'll need to provide the sender:

  • Your account name
  • Your BSB and account number
  • The ANZ Plus address: L12 839 Collins St Docklands 3008

Other ANZ accounts

For all other ANZ accounts, you'll need to provide:

  • Your account name
  • The address linked to your account
  • Your BSB and account number
  • The SWIFT code: ANZBAU3M or ANZBAU3MXXX

The time it takes for funds to arrive depends on the destination and financial institution sending the transfer. Only the sender can track the payment and confirm when it was sent.

If you’re waiting on money that hasn’t arrived, please contact the sender directly for an update.

ANZ may be unable to process an incoming International Money Transfer for several reasons, including but not limited to:

  • Incomplete or missing information.
  • The sending financial institution cancelled the payment.
  • Your account is closed.

If you have any questions about an international money transfer sent to your ANZ Plus accounts that was rejected by ANZ, please send us a message by going to the Support tab of your ANZ Plus app.
