Activate an ANZ card

The "Activate an ANZ Card" function allows you to activate the following card types:

  • ANZ Access Card
  • ANZ Access Visa Debit Card
  • ANZ Everyday Visa Debit Card
  • ANZ Business Visa Debit
  • ANZ Business One
  • ANZ Business Black
  • All personal ANZ Credit Cards.

Note: ANZ Internet Banking doesn't activate ANZ Corporate or Purchasing cards.

How do I activate my card? 

To activate your card(s):

  • Go to the "Settings" menu
  • Select "Activate an ANZ Card"

Step 1 –  Enter your card number

  • Enter your 15 or 16 digit card number.
  • For personal cards, if you're a primary cardholder of a personal ANZ Credit Card and you also wish to activate the cards of all additional cardholders, you can select "Activate card(s) for all additional cardholders". All additional cardholders will need to have received their cards and completed the customer identification process.
  • If the card number entered is for an additioanl cardholder's card, the primary cardholder must have already activated their card.

Step 2 – Activate your card(s)

  • Select "Activate"
  • For personal cards: If your card is new or is a replacement for a lost/stolen card, and you’re the primary cardholder, you’ll be asked to select the checkbox to confirm your acceptance of the Terms and Conditions and then select "Activate" once more.

If you’re the primary cardholder and the card is for a newly opened personal credit card account

During the activation process, you'll be asked to acknowledge that you've received, read and accepted the Letter of Offer and the ANZ Credit Card Conditions of Use. If you haven't received your Letter of Offer or ANZ Credit Card Conditions of Use, please call ANZ Cards on 13 22 73.

If you’re activating an additional cardholder’s card

Unless the card is simply a replacement for a damaged or expired card, the primary cardholder’s card must have been activated before the additional cardholder’s card can be activated.

Once activated, your card must be signed and the sticker removed on the front before first use.

If the card is a replacement for a damaged or expired card

Unless you’ve requested a new PIN, your existing PIN will remain unchanged

If you want to change your PIN, you can visit an ANZ branch, an ANZ ATM, or give us a call to have a new one sent to you in the mail.

If the card is for a newly opened account

If you haven’t already been given a PIN, a PIN should arrive within 5 business days of your card

You may be able to use your card while you wait for your PIN, as not all payments require a PIN

If your PIN doesn’t arrive in the 5 business days after you receive your card, you can visit an ANZ branch to set one up, or give us a call

If visiting a branch to request a PIN, you’ll need to present your card and identification that shows your signature, and identification that shows your photo

Once you’ve activated a credit card, unless an error occurs, it should automatically be linked so that you can view it next time you log in to ANZ Internet Banking or the ANZ App. If it doesn’t appear next time you log in, please give us a call on 13 13 14 (or +61 3 8693 5077 from overseas).

If you've applied for a Balance Transfer to your new ANZ Credit Card, it will be processed within 48 business hours. 

If the card is a replacement for a lost/stolen card

If you didn’t specifically request a new PIN when you reported your previous card as lost or stolen, you can continue to use your previous card’s PIN

If you did request a new PIN when you reported your previous card as lost or stolen, a PIN should arrive within 5 business days after you receive your card

You may still be able to use your card while you wait for your PIN, as not all payments require a PIN.

You should receive a new PIN in the post in the 5 business days after receiving your card.

To have your newly activated account linked to your Customer Registration Number, please call us on 13 13 14 (or +61 3 8693 5077 from overseas).

No. Please please ask any additional cardholders to call us on 13 33 50 so that we can link their card to their ANZ Internet Banking Customer Registration Number. We're available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

No, only the Primary Cardholder can activate all cards on an account; this only applies to ANZ credit cards.

These cards can’t be activated in Internet Banking. To activate your ANZ Corporate and Purchasing cards, please follow the instructions that came with your card.

You can activate your ANZ Card using the ANZ App. Log in to the ANZ App, tap ‘More’ on the Accounts screen and then 'Activate Card'.
