No exchange fees for ANZ customers

We usually charge 1% of the AUD equivalent value for each currency purchased, with a minimum charge of AUD $8 per currency. But we'll waive this fee for existing ANZ customersdisclaimer.

Change it back when you return

Any accepted foreign currency notes, up to a maximum of AUD $8000, can be converted back to Australian Dollars though must be deposited to an ANZ Transaction Account or ANZ Credit Card (except at ANZ Foreign Exchange Centres at Sydney Airport). There's an AUD $8 fee per currency, but we'll waive this fee for existing ANZ customersdisclaimer. Please bring suitable photo identification, such as your passport. Limits for buying and selling foreign currency cash may apply.

How to buy foreign currency cash

Buy at a branch or ANZ Foreign Exchange Centre

Find a branch

ANZ account holders can purchase foreign currency cash up to a maximum of AUD $8000, using an ANZ transaction account or an ANZ credit card account. If you don't have an ANZ account, you can only buy foreign currency cash at ANZ Foreign Exchange Centres at Sydney Airport, up to a maximum of AUD $8000 (photo ID required for amounts of AUD $1000 or more).disclaimer

Order online (or via ANZ Phone Banking)

Order online

You can order foreign currency cash using an ANZ transaction account online via 'International Services' located in the Payments menu of ANZ Internet Banking (Minimum order value AUD $500 to a maximum AUD $5000), or via ANZ Phone Banking by calling 1800 352 535 (free call) in Australia, 8.00am to 8.00pm AEST/AEDT, Monday to Friday (Minimum order value AUD $500 to a maximum AUD $8000). These orders can be collected from an ANZ branch within 2-3 business days. Remember to bring your current driver’s license or passport for identification.

Foreign currency cash fee waiver is only available to existing ANZ customers who convert foreign currency into and from Australian Dollars. Additional fees and charges may apply if purchasing foreign currency cash using an ANZ Credit Card. Please refer to ANZ Personal Banking General Fees and Charges (PDF 116kB) and ANZ Personal Banking Account Fees and Charges (PDF 132kB) for more information on fees and charges.


The ability to purchase foreign currency on the spot will depend on the cash holdings of the ANZ branch at the time. If the required foreign currency is not available on the spot, foreign cash orders can be collected within 2-3 business days.
