Getting started

When we’ve confirmed your ID or if you're electronically identified, we’ll process your application and open your ANZ Share Investing account within 1-2 business days (Applications for ANZ Share Investing accounts will close on 1 July 2022).

You can then begin trading immediately, but you’ll need funds and/or shares in your account in order to place orders. If you’ve registered for ANZ Internet Banking and/or the ANZ App, you can make real-time deposits into your ANZ Cash Investment account.

If you have an ANZ Share Investment Loan, you'll only be able to trade after your loan is approved and set up.

Your initial purchase of any particular shareholding must be at least $500 worth of shares. ANZ Share Investing may then allow you to purchase smaller amounts of shares to top up existing shareholdings.

You can trade using your own funds deposited into an ANZ Cash Investment Account or borrow via an ANZ Share Investment Loan.

Managing my account

There are two ways to transfer your Issuer Sponsored shares over to ANZ Share Investing.

You can recover your User ID by calling us between 8am and 8pm (Sydney/Melbourne time), Monday to Friday and a Client Service Consultant will be able to provide it to you over the phone after completing an ID check.

Follow these simple steps to reset your password online:

  1. Click on 'Forgot your password?’
  2. Follow the prompts to enter your User ID and mobile number
  3. If the User ID and mobile number match our database, we will automatically send a text message with a verification code to the mobile phone you have on file with ANZ
  4. Enter the verification code in the box provided online and create a new login password

If you have difficulty resetting your password online, please contact us on 1300 658 355 Monday – Friday 8am-8pm Sydney/Melbourne time (+61 3 8541 0458 from overseas) and a Client Service Consultant will be happy to help.

A market order is an order to immediately buy or sell a security at the best available price. However, as market prices are constantly changing there is no guarantee the price or volume available will stay the same, therefore the traded price of a market order may be different to what you expect.

In situations where there is insufficient liquidity to execute (trade) your market order at the best bid or offer price:

  • an order to sell will be placed up to 3 price steps below the best bid price and
  • an order to buy will be placed up to 3 price steps above the best offer price.

A limit order is an order to buy or sell a security at a specified price. If the price does not reach your limit before the order expires, the order will not be executed.

The ANZ Share Investing platform allows you to Transfer Funds from your linked ANZ Cash Investment Account, to a nominated bank account. You can do this by following these steps;

Your online trading account balance will update when the request to transfer funds has been initiated and you will receive a confirmation email when the transfer has been processed. In some cases, you may be contacted to confirm some details of this transfer before it can be finalised.

Withdrawals can take up to 2 business days before the funds are available in your nominated bank account.

To nominate a new linked bank account, simply:

  1. Log on to the ANZ Share Investing platform (that is linked to your ANZ Cash Investment Account)

Sharemarket basics

The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) is one of the world’s leading financial market exchanges and the primary exchange in Australia, offering investors a range of services including listings, trading, clearing and settlement. It oversees compliance with its operating rules, promotes standards of corporate governance among Australia’s listed companies and helps educate retail investors.

Chi-X Australia is a more recent addition to the Australian sharemarket. Introduced in 2011, as an alternative exchange to the ASX, Chi-X Australia uses its own trading system, offering the full suite of companies that are listed on the ASX. Unlike the ASX, it doesn't offer opening and closing auctions.
