Summary of the changes

Effective 1 December 2020, the following air travel benefits associated with the ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures credit card account (currently available per account year where eligibility criteria have been met) will no longer be available as a feature of the account:

  • One complimentary Virgin Australia domestic return flight
  • Two complimentary Virgin Australia domestic lounge passes

In recognition of the changes, the annual account fee for the ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures credit card will be reduced from $170 to $65. The $55 Rewards Program fee will still apply, therefore the total annual account fee will be $120.

These changes will become effective on 1 December 2020. The last date to book your complimentary flight and lounge passes is by 8pm on 30 November 2020 or before the anniversary date of your account opening where it falls before 30 November 2020 (as applicable).

ANZ continues to review our products and as a result, we're making changes to the ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures credit card account benefits to reflect those benefits that may be most relevant to many of our customers.

No, ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures credit card account holders will still be able to enjoy complimentary insurances, concierge services and a flexible rewards program.

ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures account holders also have access to no foreign exchange fees on their purchases, for both spending overseas and online purchases from overseas merchants.

There are no changes to when your annual fee will be charged. From 1 December 2020, the next time your annual fee is due, the lower annual fee will automatically be applied and this will be reflected on your statement.

Booking Complimentary Flight & Lounge Passes

Complimentary flight bookings and lounge pass requests must be made before the anniversary date of your account opening (where it falls before 30 November 2020) or before 8pm 30 November 2020 (as applicable).

All other ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures complimentary flight terms and conditions will apply including:

  • The ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures credit card account must be open and not in default
  • Booking at least 60 days in advance of the travel date
  • Complimentary flight seats availability at time of booking on select Virgin Australia flight routes.

If you have not booked your complimentary flight or lounge passes for your current account year, please call the ANZ Rewards Centre on 1300 367 763 (Mon to Fri, 8am to 8pm AEST) as soon as possible.

After this time, bookings will not be available and any benefits will lapse. It is important that you call the ANZ Rewards Centre on 1300 367 763 (Mon to Fri, 8am to 8pm AEST) as soon as possible if you intend to make a booking to avoid disappointment.

If you don’t want to use your Air Travel benefits due to the current travel environment and would like your Annual Account fee for the current account year to be reviewed please call ANZ on 1800 824 433 (Mon to Fri, 8am to 8pm AEST). Please also call if you’d like to discuss whether this product is still right for you.

Yes, your travel credit is not impacted by these changes however, please ensure your credit is rebooked based on the terms & conditions applied at the time of initial cancellation. Travel is subject to any prevailing legal and/or travel restrictions. Unused credits are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for other services.

Your travel credit is subject to the applicable Virgin Australia change and cancellation policy.

No, unused flights may not be exchanged for cash. If you don’t want to use any travel credit you hold, or any Air Travel Benefits you are eligible for, due to the current travel environment and would like your Annual Account fee for the current account year to be reviewed, please call ANZ on 1800 824 433 (Mon to Fri, 8am to 8pm AEST) as soon as possible.

We understand that this change may be disappointing. We offer a wide range of credit cards which may be more suitable to your needs. Don’t forget you can also redeem your ANZ Reward points for a great range of travel-related options such as flight, accommodation, car rental and activity bookings both domestically and internationally.

Your ANZ Rewards points can be redeemed for a range of domestic travel bookings with various providers, including flight bookings with Virgin Australia, subject to availability and any prevailing legal and/or travel restrictions. ANZ Reward Points currently cannot be redeemed for Velocity Frequent Flyer points.

Following the implementation of new social distancing laws and regulations imposed on licenced premises amid COVID-19, the Virgin Australia domestic lounge network has been temporarily closed until further notice. Given the current circumstances, we're unable to confirm a date that the lounges will reopen. Further information can be obtained by visiting Virgin Australia's Travel alerts page.

We're working with Virgin Australia to try to ensure that you're still able to use your complimentary lounge passes when they reopen. In the meantime, please keep your lounge passes in a secure environment as they cannot be replaced if lost, stolen or damaged.
