EFTPOS machine FAQs

How do I activate my EFTPOS machine?

Our EFTPOS machines are easy to set up. Simply follow the step-by-step information in the Quick Reference Guide available in your Welcome Kit. This information is also available in our operating guides.

What time does my EFTPOS machine settle?

EFTPOS machines settle at 9pm (AEST). You can make changes to your settlement times. Contact merchant support on 1800 039 025 for more information.

How do I make changes to my existing EFTPOS machine services?

For changes relating to merchant account details, transaction listing and statement requests, you'll need to complete a request form.

If your EFTPOS machine is experiencing technical issues (such as a communication error or a frozen screen), try the following steps:

  1. Press <FUNC> 8, 6 <ENTER><ENTER>. The machine will restart and return to the main screen.
  2. Press <FUNC> 8, 7 <ENTER><ENTER>. The machine should display “Initialisation Approved”.
  3. Press <CLEAR> to go to Main Screen.

The machine should now be ready to process transactions.

You can switch between multiple communication methods (3G, dial-up or ANZ IP/WIFI), depending on your EFTPOS machine type. Refer to your Quick Reference Guide or product page to check which communication methods are available on your machine.

  1. Press <FUNC> 9, 9, 0, 5 and then press <ENTER>.
  2. At “Swipe Merchant Card” Press <ENTER>.
  3. Press <ENTER> to go to “COMMS MODE” screen.
  4. Select a communication mode:
    • Press 1 to select Dial-up communication mode
    • Press 6 to select 3G communication mode
    • Press 7 to select IP or WIFI communication mode
  5. Press <ENTER> until the ANZ main screen appears.
  6. Press <FUNC> 2, 4, 6, 8 <ENTER><ENTER>.
  7. "TMS Logon Successful” should display on the machine.
  8. Press <FUNC> 8, 7 <ENTER><ENTER>.
  9. "ANZ Initialisation Approved” should display on the machine.
  1. Key in purchase amount on idle screen and press <ENTER>.
  2. Key in cash out amount (where applicable) or press <ENTER> to continue.
  3. Confirm total amount is correct and press <ENTER>.
  4. Tap, insert or swipe card on “PRESENT CARD AMT” screen.
  5. If a contactless card or smartphone is presented, the customer should tap their contactless card or smartphone within 4cm of the machine screen and follow the prompts to complete the transaction.
  6. An ‘Approved’ or ‘Declined’ message will be displayed on the machine.
  7. For swipe or insert processing, select account type:
    • Press < — > for CHQ,
    • Press <▼> for SAV
    • Press <▲> for CR
  8. Ask the customer to enter their PIN or press <ENTER> for the customer to sign the merchant copy if required.
  9. Verify the customer’s signature with the signature on the reverse of the customer’s card. Once verified press <ENTER> on “SIGNATURE VERIFIED” screen.
  10. Press <ENTER> to print customer copy.

For integrated EFTPOS machines, transactions need to be initiated from POS system. 

  1. Press <ENTER> until the “ANZ EFTPOS MENU” screen appears.
  2. Press the < > key to go to “REFUND” and press <ENTER> or press the associated number to select it.
  3. Swipe your ANZ EFTPOS & MultiPos merchant card (Terminal ID Card).
  4. Enter refund amount, then press <ENTER>.
  5. Confirm amount then press <ENTER>.
  6. Tap, insert or swipe customer’s card on “PRESENT CARD RFND” screen.
  7. For Swipe or Insert processing, select account type:
    • Press < — > for CHQ,
    • Press <▼> for SAV
    • Press <▲> for CR
  8. Have customer enter their PIN if applicable, or press <ENTER> for the customer to sign the merchant copy if required.
  9. Verify the customer’s signature with the signature on the reverse of the customer’s card. Once verified press <ENTER> on “SIGNATURE VERIFIED” screen.
  10. Press <ENTER> to print customer copy.

Note:

  • For integrated EFTPOS machines, transactions need to be initiated from POS system. 
  • Only process a refund to the same card scheme of the original purchase (e.g. Visa to Visa).

Your ANZ merchant terminal is nbnTMcapable when configured to IP. If you currently operate your terminal in dial-up mode, ANZ recommends that you switch over to IP to avoid interruption to your business.
