Round Ups

What are Round Ups?

What are Round Ups?

Round Ups can help you put a little money towards your savings when you spend with your card.

When you ask us to, we’ll round up your eligible card purchases to the nearest dollar (or another amount we may allow you to choose) and transfer the extra amount to your ANZ Save account (your Savings Jar or a goal you select).

So, if you make a purchase of $4.30, we’ll round it up to $5 and transfer $0.70 to your savings.

To enable Round Ups in the app:

1. Go to the Money tab
2. Switch to the Savings view
3. Open your Savings Jar and toggle on Round Ups

If you’re feeling confident, you can boost your Round Ups to the nearest multiple of $2, $5 or $10.

You can also choose to send your Round Ups to a goal instead of your Savings Jar. After enabling Round Ups, simply select the goal you'd like to send them to.

How Round Ups work

When you make a purchase, the amount we Round Up to your savings will vary depending on the Round Ups you've selected.

For a purchase of $13:

  • With Round Ups to the nearest $1, we won't round anything up, so nothing will be transferred to your savings.
  • With Round Ups to the nearest $2, we'll round it up to $14 and transfer $1 to your savings.
  • With Round Ups to the nearest $5, we'll round it up $15 and transfer $2 to your savings.
  • With Round Ups to the nearest $10, we'll round it up to $20 and transfer $7 to your savings.

We won't reverse or change a Round Up if an eligible card transaction changes after you make it.

Updating Round Ups

You can toggle on or off Round Ups, or update your Round Up amount or destination anytime by opening your Savings Jar.

If your Round Ups are linked to a goal and you end that goal without updating your Round Ups, we’ll attempt to redirect your Round Ups to your Savings Jar.

Tracking Round Ups

Look for the gold coin on your transactions to keep an eye on your Round Ups.

Joint accounts

You can also turn on Round Ups for joint accounts!

Just keep in mind that if you enable Round Ups, it’ll be enabled for all eligible transactions linked to the account, including transactions the other account holder makes using their Joint ANZ Plus Visa Debit card or digital wallet.

Either you or your plus one can update or disable Round Ups but any change will apply to both account holders.

What is an eligible card purchase?

An eligible card purchase is a transaction we classify as an ANZ Plus Visa Debit card or digital wallet transaction based on information available to us. It doesn't include other transaction types such as direct debits, BPAY, Pay Anyone payments and ATM withdrawals.

For any eligible card purchases made in a foreign currency, it'll be converted to Australian dollars and we'll calculate the Round Up on that amount.

Round Ups is designed to help you save. It may not be right all the time. Round Ups not working as they should? Please send us a message.
