Stepping into my first Australia-based role as ANZ’s Group Chief Information Officer, my immediate priorities were to focus on a few simple but critical objectives – understanding ANZ, its culture and, importantly, what our customers need.
A key immediate priority has been bringing clarity to our Group Technology team. We have taken steps towards this by releasing the Group Technology strategy – a roadmap of what we are working towards, designed to enable the delivery of the broader ANZ 2030 strategy.

Central to success is a close partnership between Technology and the business divisions across ANZ. With this foundation, we can strengthen resilience, simplify legacy platforms and ultimately enable the business to deliver market-leading customer experiences.
Now is certainly an interesting time to step into a new CIO role as Technology divisions across the industry navigate a perfect storm of challenges including the rapid rise of artificial intelligence, increasingly sophisticated cyber security threats, and the complex work of unwinding legacy technology systems.
Less than a year in, I acknowledge I don’t have all the answers, but what I can say is the path forward is about finding the balance between modernising while maintaining continuity for our customers.
With a clear direction for the future of ANZ Technology now in place, our focus is shifting to delivery at pace. We have an ambitious roadmap, comprising nine strategic priorities, and I’m confident our team has the clarity and capability to deliver.
