“When we focus on and invest in people's wellbeing, there are so many benefits for the individual, for our performance, and for the organisation.” - Rob Pisano
It was 1982 in Adelaide, and every afternoon at 4’ o’clock, a fresh-faced Rob Pisano would walk out the doors of General Motors Holden, clutching a bunch of cheques.
“We had a branch in the factory, so my role was to take care of the cheques,” says Rob.
“I'd go out the front and meet the man to collect the cheques, and then I’d make my way back to the factory.”
Unfortunately for Rob, 4’o’clock was also knock-off time, and the young ANZ branch worker would face a stampede of 2,000 tired, grimy mechanics leaving after a hard day on the tools.
“I got knocked over so many times, but the guys were great and picked me up and dusted me off,” laughs Rob.
Perhaps it was destiny that – 44 years later – Rob finds himself working as the bank’s manager of Wellbeing & Safety for Asia, Europe and America.
