2026-05-13 00:00

ANZ Research sees no change to its near-term growth or inflation forecasts following the budget.

Australia’s 2026-27 federal budget has been released, with Australia’s underlying cash deficit forecast to be 1.0% of gross domestic product from 2025-26 to 2028-29.

According to ANZ Research’s Australian Budget 2026-27 report, with the amount of net new spending in 2026-27 being a little (but not dramatically) lower than its expectations, ANZ Research sees no direct impact on its near-term growth or inflation forecasts.

There are a number of significant policy changes contained in the budget, including changes to capital gains taxation, negative gearing and the taxation of trusts.

Further insights are available in the report.
