ANZ to reopen branch in Chinchilla

2026-03-10 01:00

ANZ has today announced it will reopen its Chinchilla branch in 2026, further strengthening its presence in regional Queensland.

The decision reinforces ANZ’s ongoing commitment to Queensland, and the bank’s sharpened focus on putting its customers and communities first as it helps support their financial needs and goals.

ANZ Managing Director, Queensland, and Suncorp Bank CEO Bruce Rush said the reopening later this year is a signal of ANZ’s investment in the state, and reflects the important role regional communities play in Queensland’s economic momentum.

“We know how important it is for customers to have access to high‑quality, face‑to‑face service. By reopening ANZ’s Chinchilla branch we’re expanding our capability to support families, farmers, small businesses and the region’s industries that rely on local banking expertise.

“Queensland is thriving – we're seeing strong population growth, resilient industries and economic activity and momentum across the state. We’re excited to have an expanded on the ground presence in the community to help locals with their everyday banking needs.

“Reopening our Chinchilla branch sends a clear message: ANZ is here, we’re investing, and we’re committed to supporting local customers for the long term,” Mr Rush said.

Meanwhile, the Suncorp Bank Agency in Chinchilla will permanently close on 29 May 2026.

“Despite many months of searching and negotiations, together with the agent, we have been unable to secure a new premises for our agent that meets operational requirements,” Mr Rush said.

“We are proud of our long-standing relationship with our agent and her family, and thank them for their ongoing service to the community. The agency has decided to conclude its operations, and we respect that decision.

“We will work closely with our local Suncorp Bank customers over the coming weeks and months as we help to support them in fulfilling their ongoing banking needs,” Mr Rush concluded.

Located in the heart of the Western Downs region, Chinchilla plays a crucial role in Queensland’s agricultural, energy and small‑business sectors.

The ANZ Chinchilla branch will reopen in the second half of 2026 and operate five days a week, providing customers with access to in‑person banking for everyday and complex transactions, financial wellbeing support, and advice from ANZ’s local experts.

Following its reopening, the ANZ Chinchilla branch will offer locals an equipped space to meet current and future customer needs.
