David Stephen appointed Chief Risk Officer

ANZ today confirmed the appointment of Mr David Stephen as Chief Risk Officer, reporting to Chief Executive Officer, Mr Mike Smith. 

Mr Stephen has been acting in the role since June 2007 following the appointment of Mr Peter Hodgson as Group Managing Director, Institutional.

Previously Mr Stephen was Head of Risk, Institutional and ANZ's Chief Wholesale Credit Officer, responsible for the credit, market and operational risk and compliance functions associated with ANZ’s business, corporate and institutional client businesses. Formerly, Mr Stephen held senior risk management roles at Lehman Brothers and at Credit Suisse in London, New York and Hong Kong.

ANZ Chief Executive Officer Mr Mike Smith said: “I have had the opportunity to work alongside David in recent weeks. He knows ANZ well and has the right mix of international experience and world-class credit skills to make a significant contribution as Chief Risk Officer.”

The appointment is effective immediately.
