Exclusives by ANZ invites you to join special guests for a private after-hours tour and dining experience, celebrating the 2023 Archibald Prize, at the Art Gallery of NSW – featuring celebrated Australian comedian, actor, author, and painter, Anh Do.

ANZ is proud to be presenting partner of the Archibald Prize, Australia’s most prestigious art award, and is thrilled to invite Black cardholders to celebrate the very best art, culture and dining of 2023. Enjoy an exclusive viewing of the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prize 2023 exhibitions. Hosted by NSW Director of Collections and Deputy Director, Maud Page, guests will be treated to a special in-depth interview with three-time finalist, and past people’s choice winner, Anh Do – as well 2023 Archibald finalists, who will share rich insights into the 2023 competition and provide a reflection of this year’s process. This exclusive evening will be topped off with a superb three-course dinner.

The Experience:

Since its inception in 1921, the Archibald Prize has recognised the best portrait of a man or woman distinguished in art, letters, science, or politics by any artist resident in Australasia. Considered our nation’s most prestigious art award, the Archibald Prize celebrates both the works of artists, and the lives and achievements of great Australians.

As the most valued of ANZ customers, Exclusives by ANZ guests will commence the evening with a private, behind the scenes access and viewing of the 2023 Archibald exhibition in the main gallery. While guests wander the exhibition, enjoying canapes and Australian sparkling wine on arrival, guides will be on hand to offer insights on each of the pieces and answer questions in a format fit for critics and everyday enthusiasts alike. Personally welcomed by NSW Director of Collections and Deputy Director, Maud Page, guests will then be invited to take their seats in the main gallery for dinner and discussions.

Focusing on the most recent iteration of the Prize, Maud will be joined by a 2023 Archibald finalist, with an in-depth discussion on the journey, inspiration and artistic process behind the Artist’s portrait, as well as a reflection on the Archibald Prize; what the winning prize means to the artistic community, and its impact on the Art industry as a whole.

Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy a three-course dinner by the Gallery’s superb culinary team, the Fresh Collective. The curated 3-course menu will stagger around our featured speakers. Adding to the personal experience, some of our special guests and artist(s) will be dining amongst the guests, providing the chance to ask further questions and engage in discussions. Throughout the evening guests will have the freedom to view the Archibald 2023 exhibition, taking time to appreciate without crowds and view it as is intended; also armed with key knowledge and a deeper understanding gained throughout the evening.
