We know that your circumstances change over time. So, we've made it easy for you to request a change to your ANZ Credit Card type whenever you need.

How do I change my credit card type?

To change your credit card type:

Go to the Home page, which is the first page you see when you log on to ANZ Internet Banking.

Select your credit card account.

Select "Change your Credit Card Type" from the “Account actions” and follow the steps below.

Note the following:

  • Only the primary cardholder can request to change their credit card type
  • This service is available for consumer credit cards only. To change your business credit card type, please visit your ANZ branch
  • This service is only available for currently promoted ANZ Credit Card products. If you wish to change from card products no longer promoted (such as ANZ Visa PAYCARD and ANZ Rewards Visa PAYCARD) you will need to visit your ANZ branch or call us on 1800 007 511.

Step 1 - Read the Overview information

The information on this page highlights the pre-requisites for changing your credit card type and explains what happens after the changeover.

You will need to decide which credit card to change to. 

The interest rates, fees, charges, features and benefits for each ANZ credit card can vary.  You should carefully review the rates, fees, charges, features and benefits of your existing ANZ credit card and compare them to those that apply to the new ANZ credit card that you are requesting to change to.  Information about all ANZ credit cards is available on and you can use the "Compare ANZ credit cards" link to help you compare some of the rates, fees, charges, features and benefits of your existing card and the cards available to change to.  You can also compare some of the key information relevant to each ANZ credit card by reading the Key Facts Sheet and reviewing the ANZ Personal Banking Account Fees and Charges Booklet and the ANZ Personal Banking General Fees and Charges Booklet.

Your request to change your card type will not change your existing credit limit.  Your existing credit limit will apply to the new ANZ credit card you change to.  If you request to change to a new ANZ credit card that has a minimum credit limit that is more than your existing credit limit, ANZ will not accept your request.

Step 2 – Select your existing card

Using the "Card or account" dropdown, choose the existing card you wish to change (if it’s not already selected).

Step 3 – Choose your new card

Select the new card from options presented under "New card selection"

Step 4 – Enter your Frequent Flyer Number (Optional)

If you are an existing Qantas Frequent Flyer member and the new card you have selected is eligible to earn frequent flyer points, enter your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number in the textbox

Note, you can choose to leave this blank and provide your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number at a later date.

Click "Continue”.

Step 5 – Read the unused points information

If you are changing from an ANZ Rewards card or ANZ Frequent Flyer Card, read the information about ANZ Reward Points or Qantas Frequent Flyer Points earned in connection with your existing card (where applicable).

Step 6 – Declaration

Ensure you’ve read all the information provided on this screen and provide the acknowledgements by selecting the checkboxes.

Click "Submit" for ANZ to proceed with your request to change credit card type.

No. You must be a primary credit card holder to request a credit card type change.

Note: If the primary cardholder changes their credit card type, as the additional cardholder, you’ll also be transferred to the new credit card account.

Yes. You can also contact the ANZ Cards Services team directly on 13 22 73 (International +61 3 9683 696924 hours a day, seven days a week to arrange the change of credit card type over the phone.

No. Your new card(s) will have a new card number and it is your responsibility to redirect any automatic payments from your existing card account to your new card account.

Your PIN(s) will remain unchanged.

Your existing ANZ Credit Card account will be closed 14 days after ANZ's receipt of your request or upon activation of your new card(s), whichever is sooner.

Your request will be processed within two business days of your application being approved by ANZ.

Your new ANZ Card(s) will then be sent to your postal address up to 5 business days after processing.

This depends on the type of rewards program your existing credit card account offers.

ANZ Rewards and ANZ Rewards Platinum

Any reward points that remain unused must be used within 60 days of the date of closure

Reward points that remain unused on closed accounts after 60 days will be cancelled.

ANZ Frequent Flyer, ANZ Frequent Flyer Gold and ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum

All points are automatically credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account if you have provided ANZ with your Qantas Frequent Flyer number

If you haven't provided ANZ with your Qantas Frequent Flyer number please do so before closing of the account

If ANZ does not receive the account holder's Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number within 60 days after the date of closure, the points in the points record in respect of the card as at that date will be cancelled and may not be credited to a Qantas Frequent Flyer program account.
