How do joint accounts work?
With ANZ Plus, you can invite your plus one to spend or save with you with a Joint ANZ Plus Everyday or Joint ANZ Plus Growth Saver account.
A joint account can only be shared with one other person, but you can choose to open multiple joint accounts with different people.
Joint ANZ Plus Everyday
If you open a Joint ANZ Plus Everyday account, you'll each get a Joint ANZ Plus Visa Debit card linked to the account. You'll also be able to track your joint spending, plan for upcoming expenses together and more.
This may include visibility of the other person’s spending, including transaction time and location, when using their Joint ANZ Plus card. If you have notifications on, you'll also receive real-time updates linking to these details.
If they have notifications on, they'll see the same for you, so make sure you’re comfortable with the person you’re opening joint accounts with.
If you have multiple ANZ Plus Everyday accounts, to switch to your Joint ANZ Plus Everyday account in the app:
- Go to the Money tab.
- Make sure you've on the Everyday view.
- Tap the arrows to switch between accounts.
You can also switch to your Joint ANZ Plus card. To do this:
- Go to the Card icon.
- Swipe across to view your Joint ANZ Plus card.
Any card controls you enable on your Joint ANZ Plus card will only apply to your card. Any payment limits you have will apply to payments made from both your individual and joint accounts and your limits aren't shared with the other account holder. They’ll have their own limits that are solely theirs and not shared with you. Their limits may be higher, which may increase your liability for unauthorised transactions on your joint accounts.
Joint ANZ Plus Growth Saver
Set and track towards shared goals and earn bonus interest when you grow your balance by $100 or more (on top of any interest you receive) each month.
If you have multiple savings accounts, to switch to your Joint ANZ Plus Growth Saver account:
- Go to the Money tab.
- Make sure you're on the Savings view.
- Tap the arrows to switch between accounts.
Add-Ons
If the other account holder has Add-Ons installed, they may also see activity relating to your joint account activity. For more details, check out 'How do I use or manage Add-Ons?'.
Signing authority
By default, your joint accounts allow either person to spend, pay or withdraw money without the other account holder’s permission.
If you need to change this to require both account holders to authorise withdrawals, transactions and payments, please send us a message.
You can send us a message if you have any issues or concerns with how your plus one is using the account.
