Loading and managing your ANZ Travel Card

To reload your card - you have 3 options:

  1. Using BPAY® via Internet or Phone Banking
    Please use BPAY® Biller code 106641 and your 16-digit card number as the Customer
    Reference Number (BPAY® Reference Number) displayed on the front of your ANZ Travel Card. BPAY® reloads will take up to 3 business days to be processed.
  2. Reload at Australia Post outlets that provide the Post Billpay service by presenting the card (up to $9,000 in a single transaction). Post Billpay® loads will take up to 3 business days to be processed (or up to 10 business days if you use Post Billpay to reload using a cheque).
  3. By visiting one of our ANZ Foreign Exchange Centres within Australia you can load funds immediately onto your ANZ Travel Card.

A Reload Fee of 1.1% of the value purchased will apply to every reload (fee waived until 31/05/17). 

Please note: If you have only loaded one currency, the Australian Dollar amount will be automatically converted to that currency. If you have loaded more than one currency, or changed your Currency Order, the Australian Dollar amount will be automatically converted to the first currency in your Currency Order.

You can load from AUD $200 up to AUD $80,000 (excluding Card Issuance Fee) at any one time, subject to:

  • a maximum amount of AUD$9,000 in a single transaction applies if you load via Post Billpay;
  • a maximum initial load amount of AUD$25,000 applies if you purchase your ANZ Travel Card online via anz.com/travelcard.
  • a maximum amount of AUD$80,000 may be loaded per calendar year (January to December); and
  • a maximum amount of AUD$80,000 (for the total combination of currencies) may be held on the card at any one time.

A Reload Fee of 1.1% of the value purchased will apply to every reload (fee waived until 31/05/17).

Maximum yearly (January – December) load for the total combination of currencies is AUD $80,000.

Maximum total amount that can be held on the ANZ Travel Card at any one time for the total combination of currencies is AUD $80,000.

When you reload using BPAY® or Post Billpay, the exchange rate used is the rate on the day we receive cleared funds notified at anz.com as being the rate at which ANZ sells Travel Cards in that currency. This may be up to 3 ANZ business days after you make a payment by BPAY® or Post Billpay (or up to 10 ANZ business days if you use Post Billpay to reload using a cheque).

When you reload at an ANZ Foreign Exchange Centre, the exchange rate is the rate for the day you make the reload.

ANZ Travel Card Customer Service is available 24/7 on 1800 094 003 within Australia or +613 9683 7777 when overseas (if calling from overseas, please call reverse charge +613 9683 7777).

The standard Currency Order is:

  1. Australian Dollars (AUD)
  2. United States Dollars (USD)
  3. Great British Pounds (GBP)
  4. Euros (EUR)
  5. New Zealand Dollars (NZD)
  6. Canadian Dollars (CAD)
  7. Hong Kong Dollars (HKD)
  8. Singapore Dollars (SGD)
  9. Thai Baht (THB)
  10. Japanese Yen (JPY)

You can change your currency order by following the instructions in the next question.

You can change your Currency Order by visiting anz.com/travelcard or calling ANZ Travel Card Customer Service on 1800 094 003 within Australia or +613 9683 7777 when overseas (If calling from overseas, please call reverse charge +613 9683 7777. If you dial the number direct, you may be charged for the call). 

If you would like to change only the first currency  in your Currency Order, you can also call ANZ Travel Card Customer Service on the numbers given above and follow the automated instructions if using a touch tone phone.

If you have loaded only one currency, all reloads will be to that currency.

If you have loaded more than one currency,

  • all loads by BPAY® or Post Billpay® will be to the first currency in Currency Order;
  • you can reload more than one currency by visiting an ANZ Foreign Exchange Centre.

The ANZ Travel Card will automatically use the currency of the country of that transaction if you have sufficient Stored Value in that currency to be able to process the transaction in full. Each electronic transaction that debits Stored Value in Australian Dollars will incur an AUD Currency Fee.

  • If you do not have any or sufficient Stored Value in that currency to process the transaction in full but have enough Stored Value in another Stored Value Currency to do so, the ANZ Travel Card will use Stored Value according to the Stored Value Currency Order.
  • The transaction will be declined if you do not have enough Stored Value in any one Stored Value Currency to be able to process the Transaction in full. The Stored Value of Stored Value Currencies cannot be combined to complete a transaction.

You can reload more than one currency at a time at an ANZ Foreign Exchange Centre.

Please note when you reload your card you will incur a Reload Fee of 1.1%disclaimer of the transaction value (even when you load Australian Dollars). You do not incur a Reload Fee when you transfer between currencies on your card.

Money can be transferred between available currencies by logging onto anz.com/travelcard or or calling ANZ Travel Card Customer Service on 1800 094 003 within Australia or +613 9683 7777 when overseas (If calling from overseas, please call reverse charge +613 9683 7777. If you dial the number direct, you may be charged for the call).

Example:

You have loaded multiple currencies on your card. You use BPAY® to make a reload to the card. As you have not changed the currency order, the reload will be made to the card in Australian Dollars (being the first currency in currency order), incurring the Reload Fee of 1.1%disclaimer of the transaction value.

You then log into your card on anz.com/travelcard and follow the instructions to transfer money from the Australian Dollars on the card to Great British Pounds, Euro and United States Dollars (no Reload Fee is incurred).

You can access your card balance, account information, transaction history and change your PIN online via anz.com/travelcard or over the phone (refer to ‘Who do I contact for help?’). 

Your card balance and last five transactions are available via text message if your mobile phone service supports SMS international roaming (fees apply).

Please note: Federal Government legislation requires ANZ to verify the identity of all ANZ Travel Card holders. If you are not already a current ANZ customer, you must complete ANZ's Customer Identification Process.

Please note: If you attend an ANZ 'Sales Only' or 'In Centre' branch, you will need an ANZ account or a credit card that is accepted by ANZ in order to be able to purchase an ANZ Travel Card.  For all other locations that sell ANZ Travel Cards, you can use cash.
