Buying your ANZ Travel Card

To purchase an ANZ Travel Card, simply visit anz.com/travelcard or visit your nearest ANZ branch or ANZ Foreign Exchange Centre within Australia (including Sydney International Airport).

If purchasing your ANZ Travel Card at anz.com/travelcard you will need to visit your nominated ANZ branch or ANZ Foreign Exchange Centre 5 business days after making the purchase to provide necessary ID documents and to collect your ANZ Travel Card.

If purchasing your ANZ Travel Card in an ANZ Branch or ANZ Foreign Exchange Centre, cards are issued over-the-counter at the time of purchase and are ready for use before the end of the next business day.

If you attend a 'Sales Only' or 'In Centre' branch, you will need an ANZ account or a credit card that is accepted by ANZ in order to be able to purchase an ANZ Travel Card. For all other locations that sell ANZ Travel Cards, you can use cash.

You can still buy an ANZ Travel Card. Federal Government legislation requires ANZ to verify the identity of all ANZ Travel Card holders. If you are not already a current ANZ account holder, you need to complete ANZ’s Customer Identification Process.

ANZ Travel Card is available in 10 popular currencies:

  • Australian Dollars (AUD)
  • United States Dollars (USD)
  • Great British Pounds (GBP)
  • Euros (EUR)
  • New Zealand Dollars (NZD)
  • Canadian Dollars (CAD)
  • Hong Kong Dollars (HKD)
  • Singapore Dollars (SGD)
  • Thai Baht (THB)
  • Japanese Yen (JPY).

If you purchased your card at anz.com/travelcard both your primary and secondary cards will have your name printed on the cards. ANZ Travel Cards purchased over the counter in an ANZ branch or ANZ Foreign Exchange Centre in Australia will not have your name printed on the card.

When you purchase an ANZ Travel Card, you get two cards: a primary card and a backup card, for added security. If you lose your primary card while you’re overseas, you can still access your money with your backup card which has a different PIN. The backup card should only be used in the event that your original card is lost, stolen or damaged. Please see ‘What happens if my card is lost or stolen?'

You must not provide either your primary or backup card to any other person for their use.

Your ANZ Travel Card is PIN protected (for ATM transactions and some purchases) and is not linked to your bank accounts. This means better protection for your money if your ANZ Travel Card is ever lost or stolen.

  • You're also issued with a backup card, which has a separate PIN from your primary card. That way, if your primary card is lost or stolen, you still have access to your money by using your backup card.

You can use the ANZ Travel Card all over the world, wherever Prepaid Visa cards are accepted, to make purchases and withdraw local money regardless of what currency is stored on your ANZ Travel Card. When you use a currency for a transaction that is not the same as a currency loaded on your card, the transaction will be converted to and debited from the first currency in your currency order with an adequate available balance. If you use Australian Dollars for the transaction you will incur the AUD Currency Fee, which is 3% of the value of the transaction.

Examples:

  • If you have only loaded Australian Dollars on your card and you make a purchase in Fiji, the transaction will be converted from Fijian Dollars into Australian Dollars and debited from the Australian Dollars stored on your card. You will pay the AUD Currency Fee of 3% of the transaction value.
  • If you have only loaded Great British Pounds on your card and you make a purchase in Fiji, the transaction will be converted from Fijian Dollars into Great British Pounds and debited from the Great British Pounds stored on your card. You will not pay the AUD Currency Fee.
