Getting started in investing

When you’re just getting started with investing, you might be interested in investing in companies and brands you already know.

With ANZ Share Investing, you can invest in Australia’s biggest companies. We also give you access to trusted broker research so you can see which companies are currently rated as a ‘buy’, ‘hold’ or ‘sell’.

With International shares you can also invest in big name global brands.

For extra diversification, you might be interested in Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) or mFunds – which can help you gain exposure to a large number of companies in a single trade.

While you're learning about the sharemarket or between investments, you can keep your money in an ANZ Cash Investment Account.

Setting goals

Before you start investing, it’s worth thinking about what you’re hoping to achieve. Some of the questions you should ask yourself are:

  • Are you more interested in achieving capital growth or income (e.g. dividends)?
  • How long are you looking to invest for?
  • How much risk are you prepared to take?

Defining your goals makes it easier for you to find investments that can help you achieve them.
