What's not covered?

Life or Disability claims - We won't pay a claim which arises from any sickness, accident or condition that:

  • is the subject of a medical consultation during the twelve months before the policy started, and
  • leads directly or indirectly to death or disablement after the policy started.

Disability or Involuntary Unemployment claims - We won't pay a claim:

  • resulting from disturbance to mind or faculty through the use of alcohol and/or drugs (unless taken as prescribed by a medical practitioner).
  • if you work less than 20 hours a week in paid employment, or if your employment is terminated due to resignation, voluntary redundancy, expiry of a contract, misconduct or retirement. If you were self-employed we won’t pay a benefit if you ceased trading due to cash flow problems, shortage of work or the sale of your business.

When your policy ends

The policy period is 60 months (5 years) from the policy start date. The policy will end, and you will no longer be covered as soon as a certain event occurs. This includes the policy period ending, or if your ANZ mortgage is discharged, closed or cancelled, varied, restructured or refinanced.disclaimer

Your individual circumstances including your age, the size of your loan, the repayment amount, the type of cover you choose, and whether it’s a single or joint policy will all affect your monthly premium amounts.

You can apply for ANZ Mortgage Protection if you:

  • have an ANZ home loan of $1,000,000 or less 
  • are aged between 18 and 59  
  • are an Australian or New Zealand citizen or holder of an Australian Permanent Residency Visa 
  • currently reside in Australia 
  • have no more than $1,000,000 in life benefits across all mortgage protection policies that you hold with ANZ.

Our specialists will work closely with you to address your concerns quickly and amicably. We aim to resolve complaints within 15 business days. In cases where your complaint will take longer to resolve, we will update you progressively.

Step 2: Further help options

If your concerns have not been resolved to your satisfaction, you can lodge a complaint with AFCA who provides fair and independent financial services complaint resolution that is free to consumers.

If you receive a medical consultation for any illness or injury in the twelve months before you purchase the policy, and that illness or injury leads to a claim after the policy commences, you will not be covered. There is no cover available for the Disability Benefit or Involuntary Unemployment Benefit if you are employed in a permanent part time, casual contract or temporary capacity for less than 20 hours per week or you are self-employed for less than 20 hours per week.

Only one discount is available for each policy.

Other things that may cause your policy to end include: you reach age 65; you cease to be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or holder of an Australian Permanent Residency Visa; your policy is cancelled; we have paid the Life Benefit or the maximum amount of $750,000 is paid to the Disability Benefit and/or Involuntary Unemployment Benefit.
