What's not covered?

Disability or Involuntary Unemployment claims - We won't pay a claim:

  • resulting from disturbance to mind or faculty through the use of alcohol and/or drugs (unless taken as prescribed by a medical practitioner).
  • if you work less than 10 hours a week in paid employment, or if your employment is terminated due to resignation, voluntary redundancy, expiry of a contract, misconduct or retirement. If you were self-employed we won’t pay a benefit if you ceased trading due to cash flow problems, shortage of work or the sale of your business.

Life or Disability claims - We won't pay a claim which arises from any sickness, accident or condition that:

  • is the subject of a medical consultation during the six months before the policy started, and
  • leads directly or indirectly to death or disablement in the six months after the policy started.

Disability claims - We won't pay a claim resulting from:

  • pregnancy, childbirth, miscarriage or having a pregnancy termination.

When we won't pay claims - We won't pay a claim resulting from:

  • intentionally self-inflicted injury, suicide within the first 13 months after the policy commencement date, or engaging in any unlawful acts.
  • war (whether formally declared or not), hostilities, civil commotion or insurrection.

When your policy ends

The policy period is the same as the term of the ANZ loan. The policy will end, and you will no longer be covered as soon as a certain event occurs. This includes the policy period ending, or if your ANZ loan is cancelled or closed, varied, restructured or refinanced.disclaimer

You can apply for ANZ Loan Protection if you are:

  • taking out a new ANZ personal loan or restructuring your existing personal loan
  • aged between 18 and 64, and do not turn 65 during the policy term
  • an Australian or New Zealand citizen or holder of an Australian Permanent Residency Visa
  • currently residing in Australia
  • in paid employment for at least 10 hours a week.

If you receive a medical consultation for any illness or injury in the six months before you purchase the policy, and that illness or injury leads to a claim after the first six months after the policy commences, you will not be covered. There is no cover available for the Disability Benefit or Involuntary Unemployment Benefit if you are working in a permanent part time, casual, contract or temporary capacity or you are self-employed for less than 10 hours per week.

Other things that may cause your policy to end include: you reach age 65; you cease to be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or holder of an Australian Permanent Residency Visa; your policy is cancelled; we have paid the Life Benefit or the maximum amount of $100,000 is paid to the Disability Benefit and/or Involuntary Unemployment Benefit.
