ANZ credit card eligibility requirements

  • You're 18 years of age or over
  • You have a good credit rating
  • You're a permanent Australian resident, earning a minimum annual income of $15,000 if applying for an ANZ credit card account (a minimum annual income of $35,000 for a Platinum credit card and $75,000 for a Black credit card)
  • You're a non-Australian permanent resident with more than 9 months remaining on your Visa, earning a minimum annual income of $15,000 if applying for an ANZ credit card account (a minimum annual income of $50,000 for a Platinum credit card and $75,000 for a Black credit card) 

Information needed to complete an online credit card application

Please make sure you have all the information required before starting, including:

  • your email address, to receive a response in 60 seconds
  • Australian driver's licence (if applicable)
  • your employer's address and contact number (as listed in the White Pages)
  • your accountant's name and contact number (if self employed)
  • details of your income, assets and liabilities.

We may offer you a credit limit based on the information you provide to us, so it's important to provide us with as much information as possible. Please see Supply application documents for more information.
 

Credit limits

You can request a specific credit limit or request the maximum credit that may be approved by us. If we approve your application, your maximum credit limit will be determined after processing your application and in some cases, may be lower than your requested limit. 

What happens after you apply for a credit card online?

  • You should receive a response in 60 seconds, with an online application reference number
  • Once approved, you will usually receive your card and welcome kit within five business days
  • Your PIN will be mailed two business days after the card is issued
  • You’ll need to activate your card before you use it
  • You should then find out more about managing your card.

What do you need to do if your application gets approved and you’re a new ANZ customer?

As a new ANZ customer, you’ll need to complete ANZ's Customer Identification Process before activating your account. Please visit any ANZ branch in Australia and provide personal identification listed in the Customer Identification Process Acceptable Identification Documents form (PDF 156kB) to do this.

An ANZ Access Visa Debit Card gives you some of the benefits of using a credit card while using your own moneydisclaimer. You don’t need a credit application, and you can get one with an ANZ Access Advantage or ANZ Pensioner Advantage account.

The Overseas Travel and Medical Insurance master policy, the Transport Accident Cover master policy and Rental Excess Cover master policy (the Master Policies) are issued by QBE Insurance Australia Limited ABN 78 003 191 035 to ANZ. Cover under the Master Policies is provided to eligible participating cardholders by operation of section 48 of the Insurance Contracts Act 1984 (Cth). The eligibility criteria which you must meet for each of the Master Policies is set out in the Premium Cards - Insurance booklet (PDF 366kB) - Part 1 QBE Product Disclosure Statement and policy wordings. When overseas, we recommend that you carry proof that you have met the eligibility criteria. Any advice has been prepared without taking into account your objectives, financial situation or needs. You must decide whether or not it is appropriate, in light of your own circumstances, to act on this advice. You should ensure you obtain and consider the PDS before you make any decision to acquire it.

The ANZ Platinum Annual Account Fee ("Annual Fee") will be waived in the first year. In each subsequent year, if you make Eligible Purchases of $20,000 or more annually using your ANZ Platinum account your next Annual Fee will be waived. Eligible Purchases must be made in the year prior to your next Fee Date. Your Fee Date is the date that your account is assessed for charging an Annual Fee. If your account has not previously been charged an Annual Fee then for the purpose of determining your eligibility for the waiver, your Fee Date is the first date that your account is assessed for charging an Annual Fee. Eligible Purchases includes purchases made using your account, but excludes Balance Transfers, cash advances, interest, fees, transactions reversed and purchase refunds. If you do not make at least $20,000 of Eligible Purchases in the year prior to your Fee Date the Annual Fee will be charged to your account. The Annual Fee is currently $87 but is subject to change.

When you redeem your Reward Points for ANZ Cashback, credit of a nominated value will be allocated to your ANZ Rewards, ANZ Rewards Platinum, ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures or ANZ Rewards Black account within 5 business days.

Interest free periods on purchases do not apply if you do not pay the Closing Balance (or, if applicable, the 'Closing Balance' less instalment Plan and Buy Now Pay Later plan balances) shown on each statement of account in full by the applicable due date. Payments to your account are applied in the order set out in the ANZ Credit Cards Conditions of Use (PDF 468kB).

Purchases which are not eligible to earn Points are described in the ANZ Frequent Flyer Reward Terms and Conditions booklet, e.g. fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, balance transfers, premiums paid for ANZ Credit Card Insurance and transactions for gambling or gaming purposes will not earn Points. Account Holder must be a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program to earn and redeem Qantas Points. A joining fee may apply. Membership of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program is subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program. Earn rates and earn rate bands are subject to change.

Account holders may request no more than two Qantas Club Lounge invitations in any 12 month period by calling the ANZ Personal Concierge on 1300 580 765. Qantas Club Lounge invitations will be sent to the account holder’s current mailing address within 4 weeks of request, provided the account holder is not in breach of the ANZ Credit Card Conditions of Use (PDF 336 kB) and the account remains open. It is the account holder’s responsibility to ensure that ANZ has their current mailing address. Neither ANZ nor Qantas accept responsibility for any delay in delivery of invitations. Lost or stolen invitations will not be replaced. Damaged invitations may not be accepted. Qantas Club Lounge invitations are provided courtesy of ANZ and are valid for Qantas Club and Qantas operated international Business Lounges only. Not valid in International First Class Lounges, Chairman's Lounge, Qantas Domestic Business Class lounges, Qantas Oneworld® alliance airline, partner airline or associated lounges. Invitations must not be sold in any way. Invitations are valid for 12 months from date of request and will expire on the date printed on the invitations. Each Invitation is valid for a single visit for one person only before the expiry date when travelling on a Qantas or Jetstar flight with a QF or JQ flight number. Access may not be available if the applicable lounge is full or near capacity. Access and use of Qantas Club lounges is subject to Qantas Club rules which are available at qantas.com/qantasclub.
