Anyone for tennis?

For over a century, the best tennis players in the world – followed by the most dedicated of fans -have descended upon Melbourne every summer to compete in one of the toughest and most gruelling major events of the tennis calendar.

“Does a more powerful serve really result in more aces?”

The Australian Open has become a proving ground for rising stars and seemingly undefeatable champions. It has brought tears of joy and distress.

In 2018 however, the tennis elite fight for more than glory – they’re after a share of the record-breaking $A55,000,000 in prizemoney.

As hundreds of thousands of adorning fans make their way to Melbourne Park and endure the summer heat, hundreds of millions of viewers around the world will tune in via television and online.

Our collection of data below answers some long-debated questions: does a more powerful serve really result in more aces? How much less do doubles players earn? And despite Bernard Tomic’s bragging, who are the players really rolling in prizemoney?

Explore our interactive infographic to discover who is the best ahead of the final game, set and match.
