The development of MoneyMinded follows the first snapshot of consumer financial literacy, the ANZ Survey of Adult Financial Literacy in Australia (May 2003), which identified a strong link between socio-economic status and financial capability levels.
In response to this research, ANZ initiated and led the development of MoneyMinded as part of its commitment to use its resources and expertise to build the financial knowledge, skills and confidence of all Australians, particularly amongst the most vulnerable.
MoneyMinded was developed by the Centre for Learning Innovation (CLI) in the NSW Department of Education and Training, with contributions from an advisory committee which included nominees from Australian Financial Counselling and Credit Reform Association (AFCCRA), the Financial Counsellors Association of NSW Inc. (FCAN), representatives from Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and ANZ.
MoneyMinded is comprehensively reviewed and updated each year, with an independent consultant leading the writing process and contributions from an Advisory Committee featuring financial counsellors and/or community sector representatives, and an ANZ representative.
For more information on the MoneyMinded advisory committee, read the December edition (PDF, 552Kb) of the MoneyMinded Facilitator's Update newsletter.
