ANZ has funded three loan officers based at the Brotherhood’s offices in Frankston and Fitzroy to guide each client through the loan application process. The features of the loans include:
  • Loans of between $500 and $3,000 with a loan term ranging from six months to three years.
  • Customers are charged a fixed interest rate of 12.70%p.a. which is comparable to the rate of many personal loan facilities.
  • A one-off approval fee of $40 applies.
  • Specifically designed loan assessment criteria recognising typical spending patterns of people on low incomes (model provided by Brotherhood of St Laurence).
  • Revolving lines of credit will not be available.

Eligibility

The program is targeted at individuals on low incomes with a Health Care or Pension Card. To be eligible, applicants must have proven money management skills, demonstrated through a savings history, timely payment of utility and other personal bills and no record of unpaid credit default above $300 within the last three years. The loan must be for a purpose associated with a household or education. Loans may also be advanced on certain conditions for the purchase of a motor vehicle. Current employment is not an essential loan criterion.
