Here are some of our major achievements achieved through living values in 2007:

    • Prime Minister's Awards for Excellence in Community Business Partnerships – Multi-state Award winner for our financial literacy and inclusion partnerships and State winner in Victoria for Progress Loans.

    • Volunteering: In 2007, more than 7,000 staff in Australia, New Zealand and India contributed more that 70,000 hours as part of our volunteer program, which provides employees with at least one day’s paid leave each year to complete volunteering activities of their choice.

    • Community Giving: 15% of our Australian employees donated money to 25 community partners as part of our Community Giving program where ANZ matches staff contributions dollar-for-dollar up to $1,000 per person. Staff, customers and shareholders donated $2,592,978 to charity in 2007.

    • Saver Plus: So far over 2,200 participants have been involved in Saver Plus. As part of the program, ANZ provided funds to match more than $1.1 million saved by participants in 2007. The aim is to reach more people in more locations, with 1,500 in 2008 alone. Saver Plus was also awarded the most Socially Responsible Product in Money Magazine’s Best of the Best awards.

    • MoneyMinded: 22,458 people participated in MoneyMinded workshops and one-to-one sessions across Australia in 2007. ANZ funded MoneyMinded facilitator training for more than 1,000 community educators and financial councillors who deliver the program. We also provided financial support for eight community partners to offer the program at a grass-roots level throughout Australia.

    • MoneyBusiness: This program is currently delivered in six remote sites in Western Australia and the Northern Territory. This year, new resources including training materials, workshops, facilitator notes and games have been developed for the MoneyBusiness team. To date, MoneyBusiness has had a significant impact in the community, assisting people to better understand any money problems and put in place strategies to address them.

    • Progress Loans: Since Progress Loans began, 209 people have obtained credit to purchase essential household items and services – 165 this year. As the program grows in 2008, we aim to write another 300 loans for people on low incomes.
