Credit Cards
Q. Can I make a bill payment with my credit card?
A. Bill payments from your credit card can be processed as either a purchase or a cash advance. This is dependent upon how the biller is set up with the BPAY® billing service. The biller has the option of accepting a credit card as a method of payment. If the biller chooses to accept, the bill payment is processed as a purchase. If the biller does not accept credit card payments, ANZ may allow you to make the payment from your credit card (when sufficient funds are available). If you choose to proceed with the payment, it will be processed as a cash advance. Relevant fees and interest will apply from the date of the cash advance.
Q. How does the interest free period work?
A. For example, if your card has a 44-day interest free period, the interest free day period consists of your 30-day statement cycle, then 14 days to the due date. If your previous statement balance (excluding any repayments on Promotional Plans not yet due) was paid in full by the due date and you make a purchase made on the first day of your next cycle, it will attract 44 interest free days if the closing balance of the next statement is paid in full.
Q. What is a late payment fee?
A. A late payment fee is charged when the minimum payment has not been received prior to the due date.
Q. What is an outstanding authorisation?
A. An outstanding authorisation is when the estimated value of a purchase (eg Hotel stay) has been held for a period of up to an estimated six days to allow the merchant to process the transaction. It can also be used as a security measure for transactions such as Hotel Stay or Car Rental. In this case, after the six days the amount drops off the system. This would reduce the cardholder's available credit, but not the balance owing on the card.
Q. My card expires this month how do I get a new card?
A. Credit cards expire at the end of the month and are re-issued prior to the 25th day of the month of expiry.
Q. Can I credit my own funds into the credit card and still accrue points on purchases?
A. Yes, you still accrue points on any eligible purchase.
Q. How can I manage my credit card responsibly and save money?
A. See our tips to help you Manage Your Credit Card Responsibly and Save Money.
Q. What is an ANZ designmycard?
A. An ANZ designmycard is a fun way to personalise your ANZ First, ANZ Low Rate MasterCard® and ANZ Balance Visa card with an image that you choose (subject to image guidelines and terms and conditions). You can upload your favourite photo, design or choose from our image library.
