Q. What is ANZ Everyday Visa Debit?
A. ANZ Everyday Visa Debit is an all-in-one account, offering the flexibility of a day-to-day transaction account with the added convenience of access to the worldwide Visa network.

This means you can access your savings everywhere that Visa is accepted including online, over the phone or overseas at more than 24 million outlets around the world.

Q. What is the difference between a Visa Debit and a credit card?
A. A Visa Debit card allows you to pay for your purchases using your own money through the Visa network, while a credit card provides you with the ability to access credit, which you then repay at a later date.

This means with ANZ Everyday Visa Debit you can access the Visa network using your own money without worrying about receiving a credit card bill at the end of each month.

ANZ Everyday Visa Debit offers the flexibility of an everyday transaction account with the added benefit of access to the worldwide Visa network. You can access your account at more than 24 million outlets around the world including online, over the phone or overseas. So now you can make purchases like flights or concert tickets online or over the phone using ANZ Everyday Visa Debit.

Q. Do I need to complete a credit application?
A. No, a credit application is not necessary.

Q. How do I open ANZ Everyday Visa Debit?
A. Simply complete the online application form.

Alternatively you can

  • Visit any ANZ branch
  • Call ANZ on 13 33 33, (Monday to Friday, 8am to 10pm AEST/AEDT, and on weekends 10am to 6pm AEST/AEDT)

Once you have submitted your application form, on approval you will receive your new card and welcome kit within 3 - 5 days.

Q. Can I apply for additional cardholders to my account?
A. Yes. ANZ Everyday Visa Debit allows up to three additional cardholders at no extra charge.

Q. Is ANZ Everyday Visa Debit available in different designs?
A. Yes. You have the choice between a blue, pink or black ANZ Everyday Visa Debit card. You will be asked to nominate your preferred card design during the application process. The blue card is the default design and will be provided if no selection is made.

Q. Where is ANZ Everyday Visa Debit accepted?
A. ANZ Everyday Visa Debit is accepted at more than 24 million outlets around the world, wherever Visa is accepted. This includes at the point of purchase (EFTPOS), ATMs, online, over the phone or overseas.

Q. How do I make purchases and withdraw money with ANZ Everyday Visa Debit?
A. There are many ways you can access your money using your ANZ Everyday Visa Debit, including at ATMs, at the point of purchase, over the phone, online and via mail order.

A simple rule to remember is to select 'Credit' for all transactions unless withdrawing cash with purchases where you select 'Savings'.

Q. How do I use ANZ Everyday Visa Debit when I am overseas?
A. When you're overseas at either an ATM or point of purchase, always select 'Credit' (when the option is available) for all transactions.

Q. How do I make Internet, phone or mail order purchases using ANZ Everyday Visa Debit?
A. To make Internet, phone or mail order purchases:

  • simply quote your card number and expiry date (from the front of your card), and advise the card type is Visa
  • as an additional security measure some organisations may require the three-digit Card Validation Code on the back of your card
  • if you have registered for Verified by Visa and are making online purchases with a participating merchant, simply enter your password when prompted. ANZ will verify the correct password has been entered and complete the transaction as usual.

Q. Is ANZ Everyday Visa Debit accepted outside Australia?
A. Yes. With ANZ Everyday Visa Debit you can access your own money wherever Visa is accepted. There are more than 24 million outlets around the world.

You can also make withdrawals from Visa ATMs whilst overseas, and avoid carrying large amounts of cash. (Disclaimer: Fees apply to transactions conducted overseas.)

Q. Can students open ANZ Everyday Visa Debit?
A. Yes. ANZ Everyday Visa Debit is available to students over the age of 18. Full-time students can also receive a discounted monthly account fee of $3 (normally $6).

Buying concert tickets or shopping online or over the phone will no longer be a hassle. You have access to your account online, over the phone, at ATMs and at the point of purchase.

Please note: a student account needs to be renewed every 12 months with proof of enrolment at an Australian education institute in order to receive the discount on the monthly account fee.

Q. How do I ensure I receive the student discount?
A. Simply visit a branch and show your student card or a document confirming your enrolment (e.g. school fees), to see if you are eligible.

Q. Can I make purchases online or over the phone using ANZ Everyday Visa Debit?
A. Yes. ANZ Everyday Visa Debit gives you all the convenience of access to the worldwide Visa network, enabling you to make purchases online or over the phone, like booking airline or concert tickets.

Simply quote your card number and expiry date (from the front of your card), and advise the card type is Visa.

Q. What security features are offered with ANZ Everyday Visa Debit?
A. ANZ Everyday Visa Debit transactions in Australia and overseas can be worry-free with the protection of ANZ Falcon.

At ANZ, we have round-the-clock security procedures to help protect your ANZ Everyday Visa Debit. ANZ Falcon's advanced software can detect oddities in your spend pattern or where an unusual transaction has occurred. If a transaction is thought to be suspicious, ANZ will contact you to confirm if the transaction was yours.

Q. Am I protected when I purchase online?
A. As well as the protection of ANZ Falcon, online purchases are covered by ANZ's Online Shopping Guarantee and may be covered by Verified by Visa.

ANZ's Online Shopping Guarantee For non Verified by Visa purchases made over the Internet, your transaction will be covered by our Online Shopping Guarantee. You get protection against any loss caused by any unauthorised or fraudulent Internet purchases on your ANZ Everyday Visa Debit account provided you:

  • have not caused or contributed to any loss
  • have notified ANZ within a reasonable period of time of any suspected fraud or misuse of your card.

Verified by Visa: Benefit from added peace of mind when using your ANZ Everyday Visa Debit on the Internet. Verified by Visa is a joint initiative between ANZ and Visa. It offers you protection against the unauthorised use of your ANZ Everyday Visa Debit for online shopping at participating Verified by Visa merchants. At these merchants, Verified by Visa allows you to identify yourself using your Verified by Visa password.

Q. Am I able to reverse a transaction?
A. When you have authorised another person or company (merchant) to transact on ANZ Everyday Visa Debit by providing your ANZ Everyday Visa Debit card number or used your card to make a point of sale purchase by selecting the credit option, you may be able to reverse the transaction where you have a dispute with the merchant. For example you may be able to reverse a transaction where the merchant has not provided you with the goods and services that you paid for.

You must notify ANZ if you believe you are entitled to reverse a transaction. If after an investigation ANZ is satisfied that you are entitled to reverse a transaction, it will credit your ANZ Everyday Visa Debit for the amount initially debited for the transaction.

Q. What are the transaction and daily limits?
A. Your combined daily card limit for all cash withdrawals at ATMs and cash withdrawals/purchases using "Savings" is $1,000. This daily limit does not apply when you make a purchase using "Credit" or Visa (e.g. online or over the phone). All withdrawals and purchases are limited to the available funds in your account.

Q. How do I deposit money into ANZ Everyday Visa Debit?
A. Money can be deposited directly into your ANZ Everyday Visa Debit account via ANZ Internet and Phone Banking, at selected ANZ ATMs in Australia or at any ANZ branch in Australia.

You can also arrange to have your salary or other income credited to your ANZ Everyday Visa Debit account.

Q. How can I deposit my salary directly into ANZ Everyday Visa Debit?
A. To authorise a direct deposit provide your employer or other organisations with the BSB and Account Number on the reverse of your card.

Q. Can I set up recurring payments and direct debits?
A. Yes. You can arrange recurring payments to other organisations like insurance or car repayments to be charged to your account.

To set up recurring transactions with other organisations, provide them with your card number and expiry date, and advise the card type is Visa. As an additional security measure some organisations may require the three-digit Card Validation Code on the back of your card.

Alternatively, you can set up a direct debit by providing the BSB and Account Number on the reverse of the card.

Q. What are the fees and charges?
A. ANZ Everyday Visa Debit has a low monthly account fee of $6 (discounted to $3 for full-time students). This includes unlimited ANZ transactions so you can make withdrawals, purchases and pay bills from your ANZ Everyday Visa Debit without incurring additional fees*. You can also access your account anytime with ANZ Internet Banking and Phone Banking.

Q. Does ANZ Everyday Visa Debit have a cheque facility?
A. ANZ Everyday Visa Debit does not have a cheque facility, however you can link an ANZ Access account, which has an optional cheque facility to your ANZ Everyday Visa Debit card.

Q. What is pre-authorisation and how does this affect the funds in my account?
A. When you pre-order goods and services such as hotel bookings and car rentals the merchant is able to check if you have sufficient funds in your account. This is known as pre-authorisation.

Once the authorisation is obtained, it will reduce the amount of available funds in your ANZ Everyday Visa Debit. If the purchase or other transaction is not completed, the amount of available funds in the account may continue to be reduced for up to six ANZ business days, after the authorisation is obtained.

A. It will become active immediately.

Q. What happens if I don't want to enrol?
A. You will be able to defer enrolment three times. After you defer three times, you will need to enrol in Verified by VISA to continue shopping online with Verified by VISA participating merchants.

Q. Can additional cardholders shop with Verified by VISA once I enrol?
A. If there are multiple cardholders, each cardholder will need to enrol for Verified by VISA in order to shop online with the Verified by VISA protection at participating merchants.

A. Once you have enrolled, you can change these at any time by clicking the 'Enrol Now' button on the Verified by Visa password entry screen. Alternatively you can call 13 33 50 to have your Verified by VISA password reset.

Q. What if I forget my password?
A. If you have forgotten your Verified by VISA password and you haven't suspended your Verified by VISA account, you can simply click on the "Forgot your password" link on the Verified by VISA password entry screen and re-enrol. You will be asked to create a new Verified by VISA password and Personal Message.
