Many international countries have conducted extensive financial literacy research and are well-advanced in addressing the findings specific to their research.

A valuable part of ANZ's own learning process has been to examine the lessons already learned overseas, while recognising that Australia has its own unique financial literacy strengths, challenges and opportunities.

Personal Finance Education Group (UK)

The United Kingdom's Personal Finance Education Group (pfeg), is a registered charity whose goal is to promote and facilitate the education of UK students about financial matters so they are able to make independent and informed decisions about their personal finances and long-term security. Formed in 1996, pfeg lobbied for personal finance to be included in the national curriculum. Elements of personal financial education became part of the statutory national curriculum in England from September 2002. pfeg brings together teachers, Government, consumer bodies, the Financial Services Authority and industry representatives.

Personal Finance Research Centre (UK)

The Personal Financial Research Centre (pfrc) at the UK's University of Bristol undertakes wide-ranging research on developments in all areas of personal finance and explores their implications for individuals, households and communities, as well as financial services providers and both central and local government.

Financial Services Authority (UK)

The UK's Financial Services Authority (FSA) is an independent non-governmental body. Its primary objectives are to maintain confidence in the financial system; promote public understanding of the financial system; secure the appropriate degree of protection for consumers; and reduce the extent to which it is possible for a business carried on by a regulated person to be used for a purpose connected with financial crime.

Jump $tart Coalition (UK)

The Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy is a US organisation seeking to improve the personal financial literacy of young adults. Jump$tart's purpose is to evaluate the financial literacy of young adults, develop, disseminate and encourage the use of standards for grades from preschool to year 12, and promote the teaching of personal finance.

Financial Literacy and Education Commission (US)

The Financial Literacy and Education Commission is a recently established US commission that aims to promote financial education and improve the financial literacy of all Americans. The Commission works to encourage government and private sector efforts to promote financial literacy, and co-ordinates financial education efforts of the Federal Government, including the identification and promotion of best practices.

Federal Reserve Education - Personal Financial Education (US)

An educational website provided by the US Federal Reserve, designed to help individuals take charge of their financial futures. It features materials on consumer banking, consumer protection, economics, home and mortgages, interest rates, loans and credit, as well as various beginners' guides and links to other educational websites.
