James Marburg, Marketing & Communications Coordinator in Institutional, works part-time and uses unpaid leave.
“I work in Marketing and Communications for Institutional and am a member of the Australian rowing team. This means I need to complete 20 to 30 hours of training per week. ANZ has provided me with the opportunity to work three days a week. I’m also given the flexibility to take extended unpaid leave to compete internationally.
This arrangement provides me with the ability to have a fulfilling and challenging career whilst also enabling me to follow my Olympic aspirations. I find that working in a challenging environment keeps me motivated, mentally sharp and prepares me for the future.
My manager believes strongly in hiring the right people for the long-term, even if it means providing some flexibility in the shorter term. I have always found my colleagues and managers at ANZ extremely helpful and understanding of my situation.”
